The Great and Powerful Oz.....I mean Obama Administration seems to think that we are all dying to be in a European style state run health plan.  My healthcare plan right now is just fine - even with the issues of getting coverage for Zack's autism treatments. Guess what?  His treatments wouldn't be covered under Obamacare either! 

If it's so great - why is it that our congress and the president have written themselves out of it? They will not be using this plan - it's just for us "normal" folk. Normal folk - in the eyes of those who will run the plan means people who they think would best survive on this plan - that excludes the very young, the old, the handicapped, etc.

And don't forget the taxes!! Yes we can - and will - pay ridiculous tax to support the plan. In addition to the outrageous taxes that will come thanks to the "Stimulus" bill.

This health care overhaul is an inexcusable assault on the Constitution and everything America stands for. It has nothing to do with reform - and everything to do with power & control. Here are some of its many shocking and appalling provisions (as copiously tracked by Peter Fleckstein)


PG 22: Mandates that the federal government will audit books of all employers who self insure
PG 30, Sec 123: Establishes a government committee that decides what treatments/benefits you get.
PG 29, Lines 4-16: Directly rations health care for the elderly.
PG 42: The Health Choices Commissioner will choose your benefits for you.
PG 50, Section 152: Extends benefits and coverage to illegal immigrants.
PG 58: The creation of a national ID health card and a comprehensive federal database containing streaming data on every American's personal financial records.
PG 59: The federal government accesses your bank accounts for mandatory funds transfers.
PG 65, Sec 164: Creates special, federally-subsidized coverage for Unions and "Community Organizing" groups.
PG 84 Sec 203 HC bill - Dictates the benefits packages of all private health insurance plans.
PG 85, Line 7: Limits what private insurers can offer (rationed care).
PG 91, Lines 4-7: Mandates that health care providers pay for interpreters for illegal immigrants.

So I got to go on an unexpected trip to Washington DC last week - My brother has his two week reserve drill at the Bethesda Naval Hospital and he brought my neice and nephews up. My folks take care of the kids while he works - and seeing how my mom has had some issues this year I offered to go along to help since I don't have a job yet.

I took Zack with me as Lannah had Volleyball camp and we had a great time. Got to go on a staffer tour of the Capital, sit in on a session of the Senate. Zack was quite put out that most of the Senators weren't there to hear the great speech by Senator John Thune (South Dakota - Republican) He said - isn't that their job?? Smart Kid!

But having three boys ages 6, 7 and 8, plus a 10 yo neice and senior citizen parents is reeeeaaaaallllly tiring.

So last night, we took Zackery to Skully's to see the Cruxshadows before the show. Just as a background, he loves the song "Winterborn" and really enjoys their music. He shows genuine emotion while listening and is able to relax and focus.

We spoke to Rogue at Dragon*Con to make sure it was okay and he said as long the club would be cool. So we talked to Skully and it was a go!

Zack was totally silent on the way down and very tense. I talked to him and he said he was nervous. So we drove quietly to the club. Once we got there, he began to pull into me and want to be very close. I was a bit worried because it seemed he was going into sensory overload.

We sat at our booth with sodas and waited for the soundcheck and dinner to come. He love's Skully's for dinner - I think the combo of the lights and decor as welll as the fact that Daddy works there makes it fun.

Rogue walked into the front and I said to Zack "Who is that?" He smiles and says "That's Rogue, Mom" Cool - he's happy. We were still waiting for the soundcheck, when he suddenly starts to pull my arms around him - uh oh. He was starting to "Stim" really bad. So I rubbed his shoulders and talked to him.

The band started to warm up and John took him back. They came back and i was concerned that the music was too loud. Nope, he just wanted to hear his song. I convinced him to go back again and we listened to some more of "Immortal".

Rogue came over and said to him, as soon as they were done with this song, they'd play his. Well it was time and over the sound system Rogue says, "We're going to play a song for Zack." and asked him to come up to where he was comfortable and they started Winterborn.

Within a few bars, Zack was relaxed, not moving and smiling. A genuine smile that was a response to feeling happy over the music. That in itself was a gift, for you see with Asperger's Zack doesn't have a grasp of emotions and feelings. He doesn't usually react in a "normal" manner to things that would normally make us smile. To see this smile and feel the calm within him was truly wonderful.

After the song was over, Rogue brought him up to the stage and the whole band took pics with him. Once our stay was finished at Skully's, Zack went to say goodbye and Rogue gave him a poster with everyone's signatures. He walked out happy and smiling. And when we got in the car, he hummed "Winterborn" all the way home.

Thank you to Rogue, Jessica, Sarah, Jen, Valerie, David and JoHanna. You made a little boy so happy and gave his mom and dad something special.

So now that the events have run their course, I can finally breathe a sigh of relief and get some things off my chest. Its not like anyone will see it, but I get to say it.
